Fire crackers always, always remind me of Lunar New Year!
I have fond childhood memories of attending Lunar New Year festivals in Brisbane and there would always be a long line of firecrackers that would be lit once the official ceremony finished. The loud sounds from the firecrackers are supposed to scare away bad luck or evil spirits.
For me though, what I remember is the comforting smell of the firecrackers and the loud sounds, after which we would go run and line up at the stalls selling the most delicious Vietnamese grilled treats to snack on while we walked around the fesitival.
The firecrackers are made with pearlised deep red acrylic, and handpainted with gold paint. They are finished with little gold 'sparks' that swing at the end of the firecrackers.
The earrings measure 6cm in height and 4cm in width. The earrings are finished with hypoallergenic steel studs and a butterfly backs.
