Don't quite want to go matchy matchy? Well how about mismatching dangle earrings??
Growing up I spent a lot of time with my nana and had lots of sleep overs (yes we call her nana!!). Back in the 80s no one had air conditioning. Instead my nana had bamboo framed fans that she would always fan me with when I went to sleep. I always loved looking at the patterns on the fan and frame, it was always intricate.
Fans are said to symbolise prosperity, however to me fans remind me of my childhood spent with my nana.
This fan is decorated with bending bamboo. Bamboo represents strength and resilience. Further, my grandfather taught my mum that is represents flexibility. My mum has in turn taught me this. The blossoms on the fan represent Lunar New Year.
For as long as I can remember, I have loved colourful lanterns. Paper lanterns, cellophane lanterns, homemade lanterns, and silk lanterns. I would see them at Lunar New Year and at the Moon festival. It was always a time of fun and festivities.
Lanterns symbolise good fortune, and lighting them is said to bring health and happiness.
