Lunar New Year is this Sunday! Every new year families will often have branches of yellow apricot blossoms in pots and vases scattered around the house. The apricot blossom symbolises good luck, wealth, good health and happiness.
My uncles put together a tree of them and it stays in my nana’s house all year round. Every time I go to my nana's house I love to look at the tree, it's so happy!
While the blossoms are traditionally yellow in colour, I decided to make them gold for these earrings. To be honest my mum wasn't sure about the gold when I told her but once she saw them she was so happy about how 'extra' they looked!
The earrings have been cut from two layers of acrylic, and are carefully pieced together like a puzzle. The backing is made from clear acrylic which gives the blossoms the appearance of floating. Each blossom is made from 2 pieces of champagne gold, with a soft pink centre. There are pink and green buds to finish the piece.
The earrings measure 47mm across and 85mm in length. US made hypoallergenic stainless steel posts have been attached, with soft comfort backs.
Please note that while no pets are permitted in the sewing studio, there is a pet present in the house.
